Global Impact

The detailed data on products and chemicals in our database are facilitating research on environmental pollutants that make up a significant part of the 70% to 90% of chronic diseases attributed to the environment. At the personal health level, the  Environmental Genome (EG) has expanded our knowledge of how maternal fetal health is impacted by exposure to environmental pollutants. The EG also has impact on national security, from the detection of weapons of mass destruction to our over dependence on foreign supply chains. And the design of products can now be better focused on quality, innovative products with a lower environmental footprint. This powerful range of direct uses emphasizes the benefit of mapping the Environmental Genome.

Scale

Ours is the largest, transparent chemicals/materials life cycle inventory database in the world, providing primary data on the content, design, manufacturing processes, and energy use for many corporate programs. EG’s database is many times larger than its closest competitor and the best means for measuring the direct and indirect emissions of manufactured products and their environmental and economic impacts. Growth of the EG is thus a vital step to impact all of the chemicals-in-commerce and all global products.

Income Growth

The Environmental Genome is playing a major role in supporting climate risk disclosure and mitigation efforts and we believe it will yield many other societal health and safety benefits.
